Advice & insights

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Yorkshire?

What typically moves the price on a bathroom refit — and how to get a quick indicative range before you book a visit.

Bathroom renovations are often quicker to programme than a full extension, but costs still swing with room size, tiling extent, which fittings you change, floor finish, and whether plumbing stays put or moves. Use this page to understand the drivers, then try our free bathroom renovation calculator for a Yorkshire-typical ballpark.

VAT: our calculators show the main estimate excluding VAT (ex-VAT), with an including-VAT illustration alongside. Site copy and FAQs say “plus VAT” clearly so you are not surprised later. Formal quotations will state VAT treatment in writing.

What affects bathroom renovation cost?

  • Room type and size — cloakroom, ensuite or family bathroom; length × width (we assume a typical 2.4 m ceiling for tiling guides)
  • Fittings — bath, shower, WC, basin, and whether you choose supply-and-fit or fit-only on client-supply suites
  • Tiling and floor finish — full-height walls and quality flooring add labour and materials
  • Plumbing layout — same-position is usually simpler than relocating soil and waste
  • Electrics and extraction — lighting, fans and heated towel rails confirmed on visit

Unusual soil moves, complex tiling patterns and structural opening-up are outside a simple online model — those are discussed once we have seen the room.

Instant calculation (no contact details needed)

Our bathroom calculator combines a room base with add-ons for fittings, tiling and floor finish, plus same-position or relocate plumbing. The range starts at the calculated figure and goes up to about 10% more — indicative only, excl. VAT primary, VAT shown separately. When you are ready, arrange a visit for a formal quotation.

Bathroom vs full structural work

A refit in an existing footprint is different from creating a new bathroom as part of a loft conversion or house extension. If you are adding space as well as renewing the suite, start with the larger project page — or compare quotes carefully using why extension quotes vary so much.
